A low gravel hillock outside Pauillac, its vineyard unchanged since the 1855 classification. Part was sold off in 1750 and became a neighbouring château; the rest passed through inheritances to the Lacoste family. Raymond Dupin let it decline until Jean-Eugène Borie bought it in 1978. Planted 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc on gravel over limestone. Neal Martin of Vinous calls the estate the bastion of quintessential Pauillac.""
