Jean-Marc Boillot left his family`s Volnay domaine in 1984, spent four years as winemaker for Olivier Leflaive, and set up on his own in 1988 with a bequest of Pommard and Volnay vines and the family house and cellars in Pommard. The old vines in this premier cru average about 70 years.
