La Reserve de Leoville-Barton
£30.00
Vintage: 2005 · Status: Duty paid
Irish wine merchant Hugh Barton bought a quarter of the old Léoville estate in 1826, reportedly meaning to sell it back to its exiled owner. The family has held it ever since, now in its tenth generation. Fifty hectares of Garonne gravel over clay, planted 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc. This second wine comes from young vines and less prestigious plots. The grand vin`s 2005 earned 96 points from Antonio Galloni, who called it one of the wines of the vintage.""
